Oil painting allows me to mix paints and control the chroma and value with more complexity and creativity than acrylic paint. Throughout my career, I have experimented with neutralizing colors, matching values and intensity to create an illusion of bright colors without sacrificing depth. I paint directly from still-lifes set up in the studio. I do not make a sketch before I paint. Direct painting is the best because it allows the work to be fresh and alive. Each oil takes between six to twelve weeks to complete.
